The Barrel Power Socket Insert is an accessory that converts the Scanstrut™ 16mm Vertical Cable Seal (DS16) from a standard cable gland into a weatherproof external power socket that is compatible with the Starlink MINI DC barrel connector.
Normally, the Scanstrut DS16 is used as a cable pass-through, where a cable is routed through a 16mm hole and sealed in place using the supplied rubber gland insert.
With the Barrel Power Socket Insert, that rubber pass-through section is replaced with a precision insert that forms a fixed DC barrel socket. The insert maintains the Scanstrut’s weather seal by using an o-ring, so the DS16 remains sealed while providing a clean plug-in power interface instead of a permanently routed cable.
The insert is supplied with a weatherproof bung. When the Starlink MINI DC barrel plug is not connected, the bung seals the socket so the external opening remains protected against rain, spray, road grime and dust.
It is a simple way to convert the Scanstrut DS16 into a Starlink MINI compatible external DC power point, maintaining the seal via an o-ring, protecting the socket with a bung when not in use, and enabling a clean, removable setup when paired with the magnetic roof mount.
